ABOUT

Heather

I never really considered myself a “Crazy Dog Person” until I realized that when you share your home with another species you find yourself adapting, learning, tolerating, (mopping) and growing in ways you otherwise wouldn’t.

And it changes you in the best kind of way.

Maybe it makes us seem “crazy” to outsiders, but to us, it’s simply how we show compassion, curiosity and commitment toward these furry canine companions.

I created Crazy Dog Person to make the learning and growing process fun and accessible to other people who share their sofas, blankets, car rides… and sometimes their sandwiches… with a dog they love.

Disclaimer: I am not an animal behaviorist or trainer, nor is this website to be a substitute for either of those. If you and your canine pal are in need of some hands-on assistance, I highly recommend checking out certified graduates from the Academy for Dog Trainers. They are Fear Free trainers.

Chip

Update: Chip lost his battle with cancer during August of ’21. He was the best of dogs and was the first to turn me into a crazy dog person.

Chip’s DNA results read, “Chihauaha, Poodle, Basenji, Yorkie, etc….” So maybe he’s a, “Chorkie doodle dandy?”

His nicknames are “Chippy,” “Chipperson and “Chippy-Choo.”

Chip loves everyone he meets and has become the honorary household Welcome Wagon. The only thing that might trump his love for other people and other dogs is his infatuation for treats and neck scratches.

In 2017, Chip was diagnosed with Canine Anal Sac/Gland Adenocarcinoma, but after surgery, chemo and weekly meds, he’s still going strong!

Lady Bird

Lady Bird is 2/3 apple-head chihuahua, 1/3 dangling tongue.

Her nicknames are, “Bird,” Birdie” and “Princess Pudding Cup.”

She loves a warm bed, long walks on the beach and finding something especially stinky to roll in. Her favorite method of communication is looking me in the eye and stamping her front right foot when she needs something. Those “somethings” tend to be food, treats, scratches, her bed fluffed or an electric blanket turned on.

Deeds

Deeds has the feet and body of a wiener dog and the ears and tenacity of a chihuahua.

Her nicknames are, “Deedle,” “Stinker” and “Rumple-Deedle-Skins.”

This little dog does everything at max capacity. She loves hard, runs hard, eats fast, and feels all the feels.

She loves hunting for treats, sticking her nose in everyone’s business, and invading everyone’s personal space.

And I freaking love her.
